Custom Fan Club Perks.

Custom Fan Club Perks are rewards a creator designs themselves to differentiate their club beyond TikTok's default tier mechanics. The creator either picks from TikTok-suggested templates or builds perks from scratch, submits them for review, and once approved displays them to fans. Per TikTok Support: "All custom perks are designed and managed exclusively by the creator. They are not part of Fan Club rewards and are not virtual items provided by TikTok." TikTok also reserves the right to suspend or terminate any perk that violates applicable laws or platform policies.

What are Custom Fan Club Perks?

Creator-defined rewards offered to Fan Club members. Pick a TikTok template or build your own, submit for review, deliver yourself. Approved perks are editable only after approval and require re-submission if changed. Examples: shoutouts, exclusive replays, name-in-bio, custom emoji, IRL gifts.

Templates vs. from-scratch

TikTok ships a library of suggested perk templates — shoutout, exclusive content, named-in-bio, custom badge text. Creators can pick a template as-is, adapt one to their voice, or design a fully custom perk from scratch. Per TikTok Support, the templates exist to lower the cold-start barrier; the from-scratch path exists to let creators differentiate beyond what TikTok ships by default.

The review-and-resubmit cycle

Every perk — template-derived or from-scratch — goes through TikTok review before fans see it. Approval is required to publish. After publication, any edit reverts the perk to review status until re-approved. During the re-review window the previous version stays visible, but the new wording is paused. This means perk experimentation has a built-in latency the creator must plan for.

Creator owns delivery, TikTok owns the platform

Per TikTok Support: "All custom perks are designed and managed exclusively by the creator. They are not part of Fan Club rewards and are not virtual items provided by TikTok." The creator is solely responsible for delivering what the perk promises — sending the shoutout, recording the replay, shipping the IRL gift. If the fan doesn't receive it, TikTok does not refund, replace, or mediate.

Suspension risk

TikTok reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to any custom perk that violates applicable laws or platform policies — at any time, without recourse. Examples flagged in practice: perks promising off-platform payments, perks involving regulated goods (alcohol, gambling), perks that could be construed as unsolicited contact. When in doubt, run the perk by your manager before submitting.

Why bother — the differentiation argument

Default Fan Club tiers look identical across creators in the same region — same badges, same level-up announcements, same exclusive Gifts. Custom Perks are the only club lever where the creator's brand and personality can sit visibly. In saturated markets (MENA gaming, FR beauty, IT lifestyle) a thoughtful Perk menu can be the deciding factor between two creators on the same diamond tier.

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, but only after the initial approval — and any edit flips it back into TikTok review until re-approved. During review the previous version stays visible to fans; the new wording is paused. Existing redemptions still stand regardless of subsequent edits.
