Music Talent is the elite tier of TikTok's LIVE Talent program, sitting above Music Lover. The bar is materially harder: per TikTok Support, you need 3 or more high-quality music LIVEs in the past 7 days AND at least 150,000 diamonds collected in the past 30 days. The high-quality criteria add depth to the basic music LIVE requirements — more songs per hour, visible on camera, professional audio equipment, active audience engagement. In return, Music Talent stacks on all Music Lover perks (exclusive music Gifts, campaign access) and adds two more: a visible music badge on your LIVE profile, and priority access to music campaigns. Status is reviewed weekly with the same 2-consecutive-week expiration rule.
How does a creator qualify for Music Talent status?
Two simultaneous criteria: (1) host at least 3 high-quality music LIVEs in the past 7 days, each meeting the 7 high-quality criteria (public account, 25-min minimum, 5 to 6 original songs per hour, visible on camera, professional music equipment, active audience engagement, music rights, high-quality atmosphere); AND (2) collect at least 150,000 diamonds in the past 30 days across your LIVE broadcasts.
The two-criterion gate
Music Talent is not Music Lover plus a diamond threshold — both criteria are harder. The 7-day LIVE count rises (still 3, but each must meet the more demanding high-quality bar), and the 30-day diamond count is added as a hard floor. Falling short on either side at weekly review drops you out. Per TikTok Support, both criteria must be satisfied to receive and to maintain Music Talent.
The 7 high-quality criteria for a music LIVE
- Go live with a public account for at least 25 minutes in a single LIVE.
- Perform 5 to 6 original songs per hour (vs. 2-3 for basic music LIVE).
- Be clearly visible on camera during the performances.
- Use professional music equipment — instruments, microphone, or other equipment.
- Actively engage the audience throughout the LIVE.
- Ensure you have the rights to perform the music displayed in the LIVE.
- Maintain a high-quality atmosphere and presentation throughout.

Why creators lose Music Talent and how to recover
The most common Music Talent loss is the diamond floor — a slow gifting week pulls the 30-day total below 150,000. The fix is not always more diamonds; sometimes it's tighter scheduling so the strong-day diamonds aren't spread thin. Second most common: a high-quality LIVE that fails one criterion (the equipment, the on-camera visibility, the 5-6 songs/hour). The 2-week consecutive-miss rule means one bad week is recoverable — the next week's 3 LIVEs and 30-day window can pull the average back. Two bad weeks expires the status, and re-application starts the clock again.
Frequently asked questions
TikTok Support doesn't enumerate a specific list, but in practice a pro-grade microphone (e.g., Shure SM58, Rode NT-USB) is the minimum. Audio interfaces add credibility on review; webcam upgrades from phone-default reinforce the on-camera visibility criterion. Phone-only setups with the built-in mic typically don't clear the bar — the criterion exists specifically to filter out smartphone-default LIVEs from the elite tier.
