Why can't I go LIVE on TikTok? Eligibility troubleshooting in diagnostic order

Per Black Ads Agency, TikTok Support's exact wording is unambiguous: "Only creators who meet the eligibility requirements can go LIVE." If you press the Go LIVE button and nothing happens — or you see a block message — one of ten conditions is failing on your account. This guide walks them in diagnostic order, from the obvious (under 18, under 1,000 followers) to the subtle (VPN flag, regional outage, frozen appeal). Each blocker lists the in-app symptom, how to verify, the fix, and who owns it: you, your agency, or TikTok support.

Why won't TikTok let me go LIVE?

Per Black Ads Agency, TikTok blocks the Go LIVE button when any of ten eligibility conditions fails: you must be 18+, have at least 1,000 followers, hold an account old enough (usually 30+ days), have no active Community Guidelines strike, be in a region where LIVE host is enabled, broadcast from a non-jailbroken device on a non-suspicious network, have a verified phone number, have no pending appeal, not be inside a regional TikTok LIVE outage window, and (for agency-managed creators) have payout setup complete.

Group 1 — Hard eligibility floors (age, followers, account age)

Blocker 1: Age. TikTok requires LIVE hosts to be 18+ in every region. Some markets allow viewer-side TikTok access at 13–16, but the LIVE host policy is global 18+. Symptom: the Go LIVE entry point is greyed-out or missing entirely. Verify: check the date of birth on your TikTok profile (Settings → Manage Account → Personal Information). Fix: if the birth date is wrong, TikTok requires a government-ID upload via the in-app appeal flow — there is no self-service edit. Owner: creator + TikTok Support.

Blocker 2: Follower count. The historical TikTok threshold for LIVE host access is 1,000 followers. Some regional pilots tighten or loosen this — agencies in MENA, FR+, IT+, DE+, US have all seen the 1,000 floor enforced as of 2026. Symptom: tapping Go LIVE shows "Not eligible" or the option is missing. Verify: open your profile, count followers. Fix: grow to 1,000 organically — short-form content first, LIVE second. Owner: creator-side, but agency growth scripts shorten the path.

Blocker 3: Account too new. TikTok applies an acclimation hold on new accounts, typically 30 days from creation, before LIVE access is granted even when other thresholds are met. Symptom: 18+, 1,000+ followers, no strikes, yet Go LIVE is still missing. Verify: check the join date in your profile. Fix: wait until the 30-day mark, keep posting normally. Owner: creator-side (time only).

Group 2 — Account health (strikes and pending appeals)

Blocker 4: Active Community Guidelines strike. A current strike on your account suspends LIVE access for the strike duration. Severe or repeat strikes can disable LIVE permanently. Symptom: Go LIVE shows an explicit "Your account is restricted from LIVE" message, often with a violation reference. Verify: TikTok app → Settings → Account Status / Account Health. Each strike has an expiry date. Fix: serve the strike (wait it out) and avoid policy-adjacent content during the wait. For wrongful strikes, file an appeal — but understand appeals can pause LIVE access for their full review window. Owner: TikTok-side (decision), creator-side (compliance).

Blocker 8: Account in appeal. If you have already submitted an appeal against a violation, LIVE access can remain paused until the appeal resolves. Symptom: "LIVE access is paused pending review" message. Verify: Account Status page shows pending appeals. Fix: wait for the resolution. There is no acceleration path. Owner: TikTok-side.

Group 3 — Region, device, network

Blocker 5: Region not supported for LIVE host. TikTok LIVE host capability is not enabled in every country — some markets only have viewer access. The 5 BlackOS-supported servers (MENA, FR+, IT+, DE+, US incl. Canada) all have full host access. Symptom: account is otherwise eligible but Go LIVE is missing, and TikTok Support documents host availability per market. Verify: check TikTok's official Supported Countries list, or test from a friend's account in the same region. Fix: if you reside in a non-supported market, LIVE host access requires legitimate relocation (TikTok detects via IP, SIM, device locale, and login pattern — VPN does not work and triggers Blocker 6). Owner: TikTok-side (policy).

Blocker 6: Device or network flagged. TikTok blocks LIVE from jailbroken iOS, modified Android (root, custom firmware, certain debugging modes), and networks flagged as anonymizing (consumer VPNs, Tor, some corporate proxies). Symptom: "LIVE not available on this device" or a silent connection failure when starting the broadcast. Verify: try from a clean second device on home WiFi (no VPN, no proxy). Fix: ship LIVE from an unrooted phone on residential broadband or LTE/5G. Disable VPN before launching the app — TikTok caches device fingerprint at app launch, not at LIVE start. Owner: creator-side.

Blocker 7: Phone verification not completed. Some regions and account types require an SMS-verified phone number tied to the account before LIVE is enabled. Symptom: Go LIVE prompts "Verify your phone number to continue" or fails silently with no LIVE entry point. Verify: Settings → Manage Account → Phone Number. Fix: add a phone number for the country where you actually live (matching IP/SIM where possible), complete the SMS code, retry. Owner: creator-side.

Group 4 — Platform-side and operational

Blocker 9: TikTok LIVE regional outage. Rare but real — TikTok LIVE has had multi-hour outages affecting specific regions (MENA in Ramadan 2024, FR+ in summer 2025). Symptom: multiple creators in the same server suddenly cannot start a LIVE simultaneously; viewer-side LIVE feed is also empty or sparse. Verify: check downdetector.com, the @TikTokSupport account on X, or your agency's status channel. Fix: wait it out. There is nothing creator- or agency-side to do during a platform outage. Owner: TikTok-side.

Blocker 10: Payout / banking setup incomplete (agency-managed creators). In some regions, TikTok blocks monetized LIVE for managed creators whose Stripe or local payout configuration is incomplete on the agency side. Symptom: LIVE starts in test mode or Gifts/Diamonds are disabled even though the LIVE itself works. Verify: ask your manager to confirm payout status in BlackOS. Fix: complete the missing payout information (bank, Stripe verification, tax ID where required). Owner: agency-side + creator-side (paperwork).

If you satisfy all 10 conditions and still can't go LIVE

TikTok Support's exact directive is to "report it to us" — file a ticket through the in-app feedback flow (Settings → Report a Problem → LIVE). Include a screenshot of the block message, your username, the device model, the network type, and a timestamp. For agency-managed creators, escalate through your manager first: a flagged BlackOS-managed account often clears faster via partner-channel escalation than via consumer support. Owner: TikTok-side (decision), creator + agency (evidence package).

How Black Ads Agency pre-screens 5 of these 10 blockers

Before contracting, BlackOS runs a pre-onboarding diagnostic that checks age (18+), follower count (1,000+), account age (30+ days), active strikes (zero required), and region (must map to one of MENA / FR+ / IT+ / DE+ / US). The 5 device-, network-, phone-, appeal-, and outage-side blockers cannot be screened pre-contract — they surface only at first broadcast — but the 5 we do screen historically account for the majority of post-contract LIVE-access disputes. The pre-screen takes 5 minutes; it saves weeks of mis-routed onboarding for creators who don't yet qualify.

Frequently asked questions

  • TikTok Support publishes general statements ("eligibility requirements," "age," "region") but does not publish the full numeric thresholds in a single document. The 1,000-follower floor, 30-day account-age window, and 18+ host rule are documented across multiple help-center articles and confirmed in agency partner channels — including Black Ads Agency operations across MENA, FR+, IT+, DE+ and US. The catchall sentence — "Only creators who meet the eligibility requirements can go LIVE" — covers all ten blockers in this guide.
